Calories Matter
I love it that there has been a big resurgence in eating non-processed, highly nutritious, organic food. However, with any diet craze certain aspects that are pushed by some professionals are false. One of the latest I hear the most is calorie counting doesn’t matter as long as you’re eating real food.
Some health professionals are discounting the old adage of in order to lose weight you need to burn more calories than you take in. It’s the laws of physics they are trying to discount.
The benefits of eating non-processed, “real food” is numerous and allows you to eat at a calorie deficit even while eating large volumes of food. Therefore you’re probably eating at a calorie deficit and you don’t even realize it.
Non-processed food has a higher water content, more fiber, and more vitamins and minerals all which play their part in satiating you.
Just imagine an average size banana is 105 calories. Compared to a breakfast bar which is probably half the size averages around 150 calories. 45 calories multiplied by 365(days) is 16,425 calories. If 3,500 calories equal a pound then that is close to 5 pounds over a year. Just one small swap makes a huge difference!
To summarize even though it may feel like you’re eating more calories when eating real food you probably are not. This helps contribute to your weight loss. The added benefits of water content, fiber, vitamins, and minerals all help keep you satiated and energized.
